DOMENICO CICCARELLO

Entre política, crónica y bibliografía. Producción y circulación de avisos, relaciones de sucesos y otros ephemera de interés hispánico en Sicilia a lo largo de los siglos XVI y XVII

Abstract

The study of early printed news is very useful to better understand the historical facts, the literature of the modern era and its reception. At the same time, their analysis allows us to discover - as with other types of printed ephemera - important elements of knowledge for the reconstruction of the historical evolution stages of the printing and book trade in a given geographical area. The aim of this study is to highlight the placement of printed notices in an interesting cross between politics, history and literature, and also to clarify certain aspects of a bibliographic nature, which appear to us worthy of careful consideration. For this reason, we have made use of some examples of editions of news and relations, with reference to Sicily during the period in which the Spanish domination was increasingly continuous and intense (16th and 17th centuries).
