Abstract
The strategy of using temporary interventions such as starting street food districts in abandoned areas represents an innovative approach to regenerate underutilized urban spaces quickly and effectively. Some port cities in Denmark, by adopting this strategy, have demonstrated that the introduction of temporary street food districts can be a catalyst for positive change. These temporary interventions offer the opportunity to exploit existing resources in a creative way, bringing back to life spaces that might otherwise remain unused for years during the design and implementation phase of more permanent redevelopment projects. Leaving space for people and local creativity through temporary interventions is an essential component of progressive and inclusive urban planning. These projects not only improve the quality of life in cities, but also help create more cohesive and resilient communities, which are key to a sustainable and vibrant city.
