Abstract

The theme of inhabiting the historic centres in the cities of the South is a source of continuous stimuli and stresses; but we must recognize that it has not, in absolute terms, brought to maturity adequate responses to the realities of the different contexts. This is true at least in the case of Palermo. To observe the events of recent years in this city, in the light of recent phenomena of touristification, gentrification and real upheaval of habits and customs, it is necessary to adopt a dynamic interpretative key that requires The European Commission has been working on a number of projects to improve the quality of life in Palermo.
