Si informano gli studenti del corso di Laurea Magistrale in Ingegneria Elettronica e del terzo anno del corso di Laurea in Ingegneria Elettronica che il Prof. Roberto Morandotti terrà giorno 07/01/2019 un seminario dal titolo "Integrated quantum frequency combs".

Il seminario si terrà in Aula Savagnone lunedì 7 gennaio 2019 alle ore 15:00.

Agli studenti corso di Laurea Magistrale in Ingegneria Elettronica e del terzo anno del corso di Laurea in Ingegneria Elettronica che parteciperanno all'evento e che presenteranno una relazione al docente responsabile, Prof. Alessandro Busacca, verranno riconosciuti 0.5 CFU, previa valutazione positiva della stessa.

Abstract

The generation of optical quantum states on an integrated platform will enable low-cost and accessible advances for quantum technologies such as secure communications and quantum computation. We demonstrate that integrated quantum frequency combs (based on high-Q microring resonators made from a CMOS-compatible, high refractive-index glass platform) can enable, among others, the generation of pure heralded single photons, cross-polarized photon pairs, as well as bi- and multi-photon entangled qubit and quDit states over a broad frequency comb covering the S, C, L telecommunications band, constituting an important cornerstone for future practical implementations of photonic quantum information processing.

Biografia del Prof. Roberto Morandotti

After a MSc degree in Physics from the University of Genoa and a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Glasgow, Roberto Morandotti worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Weizman Institute and the University of Toronto, followed by an associate professorship at the Energy Materials Telecommunications Department of the Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique in Montréal, part of the Université de Québec, where he was made full professor in 2008. His group is active in the fields of nonlinear and integrated photonics, as well as terahertz and biophotonics. Roberto Morandotti is a Fellow of OSA and SPIE, the Royal Society of Canada, the Institute of Physics, and Sigma Xi.
