Winter School 2013
The Italian Language School for Foreigners of the University of Palermo presents the new edition of the Winter School from the 4th of February to the 1st of March. Our Winter School offers language courses for every level and two special courses of Italian art for a total of 40 hours of morning classes and afternoon workshops in two weeks, qualified teachers, entry and final tests, tutoring service and learning materials.
The Winter School 2013 combines traditional language courses with a full immersion in Palermo everyday life and the offer of additional workshops focusing on cultural related topics, such as theatre, cooking, cinema, music, creative writing, Sicilian art and culture. Students coming from abroad will also enjoy trips and guided tours to discover the history, the art and the traditions of Palermo and its surroundings.
The School will help foreign students in finding an accommodation at a reasonable price. The teachers, the tutors and the staff of the School will take constant care of the students, and Italian students from the University of Palermo will support foreign students out of the class, in social and entertaining activities.

“Italian Language and Culture - Standard course”
This 40-hours course is held with the most up-to-date methodology, based on the communicative approach, which will guide the students in a full immersion into target the language. The course aims at encouraging the language learning process and the interaction of the students with the environment, the culture and the art of Palermo and Sicily. Many workshops are scheduled for the afternoons and students will have the chance to choose what they like more: theatre, cooking, cinema, music, creative writing, Sicilian art and culture. And also, they will enjoy all the evening entertaining activities the School has planned for them.
“Italian and Art”
This 40-hours course has a theoretical structure combined with an extensive application consisting of several educational trips to discover the masterpieces of Palermo and Sicily. The teacher is fully qualified both in History of Art and in Italian as a Foreign Language. The course has the aim of introducing the students to Italian art and to the specialised language of History of Art. Students will be thus trained in approaching specialised texts and lectures.
“Italian Language and Culture - Advanced Course”
This 40-hours course combines classes of Italian Literature, History of Art and Italian Linguistics, all taught by university lecturers and researchers. Also, the course includes a writing skills workshop and trips
