Educational objectives - professional opportunities for graduates
The 2nd cycle degree course in “Health professions of (diagnostic) technical sciences” aims at educating professionals with a good understanding of the technical procedures needed to use diagnostic methodologies on biologic materials or on individuals, as well as technical care activities.
Graduates of this course should possess sound background in basic disciplines, such to enable them to better understand the principal elements upon which pathological processes of the evolutive, adult and geriatric age are grounded, elements upon which their diagnostic intervention is focused.
Graduates should also be able to use at least one European Union language, besides Italian, in their specific professional field and to exchange general information. A very important part of the professional educational programme, integrating and qualifying it, id the practical educational activity and the clinical practice, carried out under the guidance of professional tutors, and coordinated by a professor of the highest professional rank, in accordance with European regulations, if any.
The educational objective of the course is to provide students with knowledge of biological and pathological phenomena, of the principles of the functioning of analytical equipment, of the methodological bases of the analytical process for chemical-clinical, microbiological and clinical pathology tests, (pharmacological-toxicological, pharmaceutical-galenical, biotechnological, immune-haematological, immunometric with radio-immunological method, genetic and anatomical-cyto- histopathological and autoptical tests), as well as the principles of laboratory safety and radioprotection.
The educational programme aims at providing students with the capability of acquire competences about the responsibility of their professional action, and to carry out laboratory analysis and research activities with respect to biomedical and biotechnological tests, and in particular to biochemistry, microbiology and virology, pharmacotoxicology, immunology, clinical pathology, haematology and anaesthesiology tests. Graduates of this course carry out their professional activity with technical professional autonomy, cooperating with their laboratory partners; they are therefore responsible, within laboratories, of the correct execution of analytical procedures and of their personal work, applying the standards defined by the relevant managers; they should check and verify the correct functioning of the used equipment, take care of ordinary maintenance of the equipment and of the correction of small problems; they should take part in the planning and organisation of work in the structure they work in; they might carry out their professional activity in public and private laboratories, as employee or private practitioners; they might contribute to the education of support staff and be able to update their professional profile.
2nd cycle graduates in “Health professions of (diagnostic) technical sciences” carry out their professional activity as coordinators of biomedical analysis laboratories and of radiodiagnostic equipment
