Description

The scientific-disciplinary contents concern the representation of architecture and the environment, in its broad meaning as a means of knowledge of the laws that govern the formal structure, as a tool for the analysis of existing values, as an expressive act and visual communication of the project idea at different scalar dimensions. They understand the descriptive geometric foundations of design and computer modelling, their theories and methods, even in their historical development; the survey as an instrument of knowledge of the architectural, environmental and urban reality, its direct and instrumental methodologies, its procedures and techniques, including digital ones, of metric, morphological and thematic restitution; drawing as a graphic, infographic and multimedia language, applied to the design process from the formation of the idea to its executive definition.

Research activity

The sector is interested in the scientific and didactic-training activity concerning the representation of architecture, the city, the environment and structures and infrastructures, in its broadest sense as a means of knowledge of the laws that govern the formal structure, as a tool for the analysis of the existing values, of the expressive act and the visual communication of the project idea to the different scalar dimensions. It also studies the scientific foundations of design, computer modelling, virtual representation and reverse modelling, their theories and methods, both innovative and in their historical development; the survey as an instrument of knowledge of the architectural, urban and environmental reality, its direct and instrumental methodologies up to the most advanced, its procedures and techniques, including digital ones, of metric, morphological and thematic restitution; drawing as a graphic, infographic and multimedia language, applied to the design process from the formation of the idea to its executive definition. The research areas range from the experimentation of innovative and low-cost surveys to monitoring in its broadest sense. In recent years, research has also developed in areas relating to road accidents in the geometric reconstruction or images of accident scenarios.
