LM-6 – CELLULAR AND MOLECULAR BIOLOGY
LM 6 – BIOLOGIA CELLULARE E MOLECOLARE
Educational Objectives – Professional Opportunities for Graduates
Graduates in “Cellular and Molecular Biology” will acquire adequate knowledge of the experimental and analytic bases of :
- Cellular Biology;
- Biochemistry;
- Microbiology;
- Genetics;
- Molecular Biology;
- Molecular Physiology;
- Biophysics;
- Recombinant Technologies
- Applications of Bioinformatics;
- Biochemical, Genetic and Cytogenetic Methodologies.
Students will learn both how to use adequate scientific research methods and work in a completely independent way. Moreover, they will be able to participate to the design and interpretation of experiments They will improve their knowledge of the English language, of scientific literature and computing techniques good enough to enable them to face the international scientific community, the continuous scientific updating and the presentation of scientific data through the most modern methodologies.
The course is structured to prepare high-quality professionals ready to enter the international scientific community. Students will also be equipped with advanced lifelong learning tools for the continuous building of skills and competences.
The course includes subjects and educational activities such as
- Cellular Biology;
- Physiology;
- Biochemistry;
- Molecular Biology;
- Genetics;
- Microbiology;
- Biophysics;
- laboratory practice within national and international Universities;
- study periods within other national or international Universities and public - national and international - research institutes/agencies.
Graduates of this course may find a job in all those professional fields where their class specific and course specific competences are required, viz.:
- basic and applied research, in public or private laboratories;
- promotion and development of the scientific and technological innovation in the biological-molecular field;
- management and design of cellular technologies and biotechnologies;
- professional activities in fields related to the applications of biomolecular disciplines, such as biological and microbiological analysis, biological and molecular quality control of food and environment, molecular genetic testing and professional expertise.
Graduates may also apply to Doctoral programmes, 2nd level master courses and post-graduate schools in subject- related educational fields.
