Educational objectives - professional opportunities for graduates

The 2nd cycle degree in “International Relations” and “European Studies” aims at educating specialists who will work in the international and European ambits.
The first year, common to all curricula, aims at providing the needed juridical, economic, historical and political science knowledge.


The “International relations for cooperation and development” curriculum has the foremost objective of preparing for the international careers in regional and national diplomacy, as well as in international governmental and nongovernmental organisations, and in national and supranational private companies and organisations.


The curriculum “European studies” provides for advanced juridical, economical, political scientific, social and historical education, and for the acquisition of new competences about the principles, juridical sources, regulations and policies of Europe and member Countries, with a comparative and interdisciplinary perspective. Graduates will acquire advanced competences and operational capability to fit in public and private work contexts interacting with international organisations and European institutions in the new scenario opened with the multiple EU governing system.


The curriculum “European, transnational and comparative juridical studies” aims at educating experts comparative jurists capable of carrying out the juridical advice activity in the European Union and international ambits. After the acquisition of advanced knowledge of the basic components of the internal legal system and of the principal juridical systems, they will be able to fit into international and European professional contexts, as well as to continue their studies within academic or international research ambits.

Graduates of this course may play high responsibility roles in public offices, public and private companies, non-governmental and third sector organisations, philanthropic institutions, political parties, trade unions, and in the offices of the European Union and international organisations. Graduates of this course might work as high level advisers, capable of managing and mastering relations and transactions, including commercial ones, at European level. The “International Relations” curriculum prepares students for the diplomatic and consular career, and entitles graduates to further universities studies, such as Master courses and research Doctorates. The “European Studies” curriculum aims at preparing highly qualified staff capable of operating in the EU institutions and agencies, in the member Countries institutions at various levels, and namely in the sectors which more frequently interact with the community level; in national and multinational companies and trade associations operating within the European Union.
