Educational objectives and professional opportunities for graduates
This 2nd cycle degree course aims at providing graduates with the competences they need play various roles in health services, and namely: expert in Nursing and Midwifery; manager of nursing and midwifery areas. They will also be able to design, carry out and evaluate nursing and midwifery educational programmes, both at basic level and with respect to lifelong education.
The course aims at a systemic education, and at educating specialists with a critical attitude towards the totality of phenomena and problems existing in the nursing and midwifery contexts.
Trough the experience they acquire during their professional activities, graduates of this course will acquire an integrated approach to the organisational and managerial issues of health profession, as well as command of health management techniques and procedures.
The acquired methodological knowledge will enable graduates to intervene in educational and research processes within the nursing and midwifery ambits.
The educational programme provides for the competences needed:
- to apply basic knowledge in the decision making process with respect to the organisation and management of health services provided within public or private health structures with low, medium or high complexity;
- to use the needed health economics and business organisation command for a productive organisation of health services and for the management of available human and technological resources, evaluating the cost/benefit relation;
- to use research methods and tools in the organisation of health services;
- to apply the impact of various theoretical models in the effectiveness of health services organisation and management;
- to plan the optimisation of various kind of (human, technological, information, financial) resources within the relevant low, medium and high complexity health structures;
- to design and carry out educational actions for the upgrading and lifelong education;
- to develop teaching skills with respect to the specify professional profile, in tutorial activities and in the coordination of professional practice periods in basic, complementary and lifelong educational programmes;
- to communicate clearly about organisational and sanitary issues with their partners and with patients;
- to analyse critically the ethical and deontological aspects of nursing and midwifery, under the perspective of a multi-professional integration too.
Graduates of this class will carry out their professional activity as private practitioners or employees in public or private health facilities, o the field and in domiciliary care
