Educational objectives - professional opportunities for graduates
The Degree course provides for advanced knowledge in electronic transmissions, in circuits propagating electromagnetic waves (with frequencies ranging from radio-frequency to microwaves), and eventually in the photonic transmission of information.
For this reason, the educational programme is characterised by some guiding lines; the first one consists of the study of the electronic related physics and structure of materials, and of photonics, as well as of the study of solid state devices exploiting the classical and quantum physical properties of relevant materials. This knowledge is the basis for further guiding lines, related to concentrated and distributed parameters electronics for high frequencies and microwaves on one hand, and to the study of photonic systems and devices on the other.
Finally, particular attention is paid to communications. (optical communications and electronics for communications).
Graduates of this course might find professional opportunities in all the typical fields of Electronic Engineering and, in particular:
- design and production of electronic and/or photonic components, sub-systems and systems;
- Electronic systems engineering, running and maintenance;
- Evaluation and installation of electronic devices and components for communication networks;
- Electronic control of devices, machines, production chains;
- Management of electronic and/or photonic measurement systems, of laboratories and production lines.
