Educational objectives – professional opportunities for graduates

The 2nd cycle degree course in “Economic and Financial Science” aims at providing students with advanced knowledge of economic and financial subjects. This objective will be achieved through an in-depth study of the economic analysis and policy disciplines, of the company-oriented disciplines which are more closely related to economic science, through the addition of advanced legal subjects and mathematical-statistical subjects.

The educational programme focuses upon the use of quantitative methods applied to economical research, in a multidisciplinary context. The objective is to educate economists capable of interpreting systemic economic and market phenomena, suggesting also in depth analyses or possible action lines. These professionals will be able to operate as private practitioners in all economic areas, or as managers or executives in public and private companies.

Graduates of this course may work as economists, economic planners or economic and financial analysts, in high responsibility positions in various public and private economic sectors (agriculture, industry, commerce, services), in research departments or companies in the economic field, within research agencies and national and international institutions, companies and trade and professional unions, as well as private practitioners in the economic area and as graduate business consultants and auditors, after passing the National qualification examination and the relevant practice period.

They might also carry out, professional activities as experts of economic organisation, management and evaluation, in the various public administration sectors, in local authorities, and in agencies and companies providing and managing public services, and in companies or agencies dealing with regional upgrading and local development.
