Nel Dottorato di Ricerca in Matematica e Informatica confluiscono i percorsi formativi costituiti, da un lato dalle lauree triennali della Classe Scienze Matematiche (Matematica, Matematica per l’Industria e la Finanza, Matematica per l’Informatica e la Comunicazione scientifica) e dalla laurea specialistica in Matematica e, dall’altro, dalla laurea triennale in Informatica e dalla laurea specialistica in Scienze dell’Informazione. 
Esso intende costituire il percorso di alta formazione alla ricerca nelle aree della Matematica e dell’Informatica che, salvaguardando le specificità dei percorsi formativi originari, valorizzi una formazione comune nelle conoscenze di base necessarie alla ricerca e nelle metodologie dell’i ndagine scientifica. 
I temi di ricerca riguardano i seguenti settori: 
- per la Matematica: ALGEBRA, GEOMETRIA, ANALISI MATEMATICA, FISICA MATEMATICA 
- per l' Informatica: INFORMATICA TEORICA, ALGORITMICA, BIOINFORMATICA, ANALISI DI DATI SPERIMENTALI

The PhD Program in Mathematics and Computer Sciences is aimed to the education of resercher possessing a deep and integrated knowledge of the basic aspect and of the essential tools of a large variety of subjects in Mathematics and in Computer Sciences. 
The PhD Program in Mathematics and Computer Sciences is the end point of an educational path which starts with the first degrees in Mathematics or in Conputer Sciences and continues with the Master degrees in Mathematics or in Computer Sciences. 
The PhD Program will be the path of higher research education in the areas of Mathematics and Informatics which, preserving the original training, will enhance joint education in the basic knowledge necessary to research and in the methodologies of scientific inquiry. 
The research areas are the following: ALGEBRA, GEOMETRY, MATHEMATICAL ANALYSIS , MATHEMATICAL PHYSICS THEORETICAL COMPUTER SCIENCES, ALGORITHMS, BIOINFORMATICS, DATA ANALYSIS 
Duration of the Program: three years.
