Curriculum Statistics
The PhD program aims to form a professional figure that has a solid foundation in theoretical and applied statistics, it is able, on the one hand, to develop innovative and original contributions in the field of science and, on the other hand, to work in various fields of application with creativity, autonomy and responsibility in order to be inserted in top positions in the labor market.
The educational structure of the PhD course is characterized by the presence of a common set of teachings, held during the first year. The purpose of this teaching is to remove the different types of basic education and provide the starting point - fundamental - to undertake a research project. The research carried out in the second and third year is the key part of the training project. It is aimed at achieving autonomy in research through the preparation of a PhD dissertation containing original contributions which can bring articles published in scientific journals.
- a first period consists of courses in mathematics, probability, statistical inference, statistical modeling and sampling;
- a second period consists of specific courses in the field of demography, economics, epidemiology and statistical methods;
- a third period with seminars introducing the PhD students to areas of research carried out by members of the departments consortium. The aim is to guide the PhD students in the choice of the topics of the PhD dissertation
