L’Osservatorio ha promosso nel tempo una serie di iniziative culturali attinenti al settore delle Arti Decorative, tra cui la digitalizzazione del Fondo Accascina in convenzione con la Biblioteca Regionale Siciliana “A. Bombace” di Palermo e l’allestimento della mostra “Antichi Mestieri tra passato e futuro” presso l’Oratorio dei Bianchi nel giugno 2013, nella quale sono state esposte opere di orafi contemporanei e delle loro allieve, evento finale di un progetto di formazione sulle tecniche dell’oreficeria siciliana finanziato dalla Regione Siciliana nell’ambito del P.O. FSE 2007-2013, il cui successo ha portato alla riproposizione dell’evento nell’ottobre dello stesso anno presso la chiesa di Sant’Antonio Abate nel complesso dello Steri, nell’ambito delle iniziative culturali legate alla rassegna “Le vie dei Tesori”. Inoltre, grazie all’entusiasmo ed al continuo supporto del Magnifico Rettore Prof. Roberto Lagalla alle sue attività, ha stipulato convenzioni con enti territoriali siciliani come i Comuni delle Madonie, l’Alto Belice Corleonese e l’Arcidiocesi di Monreale per la valorizzazione del patrimonio storico-artistico attraverso la realizzazione di iniziative culturali congiunte. Numerose sono anche le pubblicazioni che la struttura ha realizzato negli anni, su tre distinte linee editoriali. La prima è la collana di studi “Quaderni dell’Osservatorio per le Arti Decorative in Italia”, giunta alla quarta pubblicazione, costituita da volumi che presentano studi attinenti alla storia delle Arti Decorative. La seconda è Digitalia, una collana di ebook, giunta anch’essa alla quarta uscita, che hanno come filo conduttore il rapporto tra la tecnologia digitale e lo studio delle Arti Decorative. La terza è rappresentata da OADI - Rivista dell’Osservatorio per le Arti Decorative in Italia (www.unipa.it/oadi/rivista), periodico scientifico on line pubblicato dal 2010 con cadenza semestrale anche in una versione stampabile in pdf, che ospita saggi di studiosi italiani e stranieri attinenti alla storia delle Arti Decorative. Le due collane e la rivista, tutte dirette da Maria Concetta Di Natale, rappresentano oggi un punto di riferimento e sono oggetto di attenzione da parte di studiosi del settore in Italia e all’estero. L’Osservatorio costituisce oggi anche un importante punto di incontro per studenti e giovani studiosi che usufruiscono dei servizi della sua biblioteca specializzata, comprendente testi a stampa, tesi di laurea su periodici, traduzioni di volumi esteri e trascrizioni di inventari, e che intrattiene rapporti di scambio di volumi con analoghe istituzioni italiane e straniere.

The Observatory has promoted with the passing of time a series of cultural events related to the field of decorative arts, including the digitization of the AccascinaCollection, in agreement with the Sicilian Regional Library "A. Bombace " of Palermo, and the installation of the exhibition "Ancient Crafts between past and future "at the Oratorio dei Bianchi in June 2013, which presented works by contemporary goldsmiths and their students; it was the final event of a training project on Sicilian goldsmith techniques funded by the Sicilian Region in the context of the P.O. FSE 2007-2013 , the success of which led to the replica of the event in October of the same year at the church of Sant'Antonio Abate belonging to the Steri, as part of the cultural initiatives related to the exhibition "The ways of Treasures". In addition, thanks to the enthusiasm and the continuous support of the Magnificent Rector Professor Roberto Lagalla, the Observatory has signed agreements with Sicilian authorities such as themunicipalities of the Madonie area, the Alto BeliceCorleonese and the Archdiocese of Monreale for the enhancement of the historical and artistic heritage through the creation of joint cultural initiatives. The Observatory has edited over the yearsmany publications, on three separate publishinglines. The first is a series of studies called "Notebooks of the Observatory for the Decorative Arts in Italy," now in its fourth publication, consisting of volumes related to the history of Decorative Arts. The second line is Digitalia, a series of ebooks , now in its fourth publication  too, having as its main theme the relationship between digital technology and the study of Decorative Arts. The third is represented by OADI-Journal of the Observatory for the Decorative Arts in Italy (www.unipa.it / oadi / rivista), online scientific journal published twice a year since 2010 in a printable pdf thatissues essays of Italian and foreign scholars related to the history of Decorative Arts. The two lines and the magazine, in the same way directed by Maria Concetta Di Natale, today represent a reference point and are held in esteemby specialized  scholars both in Italy and abroad. The Observatory is now also an important meeting place for students and young scholars thattake advantage of the services of its specialized library, which includes printed books, dissertations about periodicals, translations of foreign books and transcriptions of inventories, and that keeps up relationsof exchange of volumes with similar Italian and foreign institutions.
