Description
The International ARCHMAT 2017 Summer School is organized within the framework of the ERASMUS MUNDUS European Master in Archaeological Materials Science ARCHMAT. The school is targeted to all those, students in related disciplines as well as operators in the field, that are interested in Archaeometry and in Archaeology of underwater world. The School is organized in lecture sessions and in practical technical workshops. Guided visits of at selected museums and archaeological sites will be provided. During these visits some thematic lessons and practical sessions will be held.
The language of the School is English.
Aim and Main Topics of the School
The knowledge and understanding of Cultural Heritage require the cooperation of experts in various fields for whom the cooperation has the meaning of interconnection of skills through the realization of synergic activities by using a common language. This has been already put in practice among some archaeologists and researchers participating to the School.
The aim of the School is to spread and to improve the knowledge about Archaeometry and Archaeology of the underwater world and their interconnection through the expert lecturers and the presentation of some results achieved in various archaeometry surveys.

For each case study, both the archaeological and the archaeometric context will be discussed. The basic and the application of portable instrumentations such as XRF,IR, etc… and analytical instrumental facilities such as μ-FTIR, NMR and GC-MS at CGA will also be presented.

Registration fee: 600,00 €. The fee includes registration to the Summer School and to the Associazione CulturaleArchaeometry Summer School (10 €), teaching materials, social dinner and trips as indicated in the Program. Travel Costs, Accommodation and everything not indicated are not included.
